Ouachita National Forest Hiking -
Little Blakely Trail System


Trail Highlights: Along these trails, visitors will see spectacular views of beautiful Lake Ouachita, stately old growth pines and hardwoods, and unique rock formations. The hardwoods become especially beautiful during the autumn color change. In the spring, the wildflowers display an array of brilliant colors.

Other Opportunities: Lake Ouachita State Park provides full service camping facilities with lake access and is located near the trail system. Lake Ouachita, one of the largest and most beautiful, offers the visitor some of the best boating, swimming and fishing opportunities in the State.

Length: 17.9 miles total (all loops combined).

Directions: Take Highway 270 west of Hot Springs and turn north on Highway 227 to Lake Ouachita State Park. Take Forest Service Road 30200 north to the trailhead.

Trail Information: Allow 4 to 10 hours per loop if you are hiking. The trail is unsurfaced and marked with white triangles.

Site Amenities: Parking area and trail.

Safety: Carry plenty of water and treat all lake and stream water before drinking.

Trail Difficulty: More difficult.

Requirements: This trail is open to hiking, mountain bike riding, and closed to motorized vehicles.

Recommended Seasons: Trail is open year round and especially pleasant during the spring and fall.
